Thanksgiving 2021

Top o' the morning, all!

I hope this post finds you doing well, whenever you might stumble upon it.

Here in the US, it's the Thanksgiving holiday. My daughter is home from school, and family is gathering for a pleasant and relaxing long weekend. Although I still woke up early to write, I'll be shutting down the computers early today to focus on food and family.

For me, the weekend will serve as a time to reflect, relax, and give thanks.

My list this year is long:

I'm grateful to my family who have supported my writing endeavors over the years. A special thanks needs to be given to my wife, who gave me permission to quit my old career six years ago to try making a living writing.

I'm grateful to my friends who endure my strange hours and bizarre musings. I believe it takes a special type of person to be friends with a writer, and I appreciate you all.

I'm also thankful to the other writer friends I've made along the way. Writing is a strange career, in that so much of it is done alone, but then the final result is a very public novel. I wouldn't be where I am today without the help, inspiration, and advice of a very large number of writers.

Finally, I'm grateful to all my readers and supporters. I couldn't do this without you, and not just because your purchases allow me to feed my family. Like all writers, I suffer from bouts of self-doubt, and in those moments I often turn to letters and emails I've received over the years. And then I get back to the keyboard and keep writing.

It's been six wonderful and crazy years since Nightblade was published, and I hope that we're only at the beginning of the story.

Thanks so much,

Ryan
